Five Points Awards Winners at the 30th Annual Chili Cook-Off

This Saturday, October 21, 2017, the Five Points Association (FPA) welcomed thousands of people into Columbia's original village neighborhood for the 30th Annual Chili Cook-Off in Five Points. Patrons were given have the chance to watch teams battle it out to see who has the best chili in Columbia.

The winning teams received custom, locally made trophies by Stuyck & Company and were determined by a panel of 10 judges. The judging panel consisted of local influential people such as City Councilman Howard Duvall, Chief Aubrey Jenkins with the Columbia Fire Department, Free Times Editor Eva Moore, The Gourmet Shop owner Dennis Hiltner, Flock & Rally partner Tracie Broom, and more.


Best Overall Chili, 1st place -- The Big Bad Moores
Best Overall Chili, 2nd place -- Wolfe & Taylor "Shut the Front Door" Chili
Best Overall Chili, 3rd place -- Nuclear Meltdown Jeff's Texas Tornado Red Chili
Best Set-Up -- Columbia Firefighters "Jobtown"
Best Bar / Restaurant -- Devine Cinnamon Roll Deli
Best Traditional -- Bottles Beverage Superstore
Best Non-Traditional -- Columbia Firefighters "Jobtown"
Best Texas Style -- Courtyard Columbia Cayce

The Chili Cook-Off is a charitable fundraiser and has raised thousands of dollars over the event's history for local non-profits. The Taneyhill's Group Therapy Silver Spoon Award is given to the chef team that collects the most donations and this year's winner was Columbia Firefighters "Jobtown". This year's charities were Happy Wheels and Venture Crew and a check presentation press conference will be announced soon.
