Five Points Hosts Travels with Darley Viewing Party
Monday, February 22, 2016
This summer, the Five Points Association had the incredible opportunity to partner with SCE TV, Discover SC, and the Columbia Visitor's Bureau to film an international travel show called Travels with Darley.
Host Darley Newman came to Columbia to film part of an episode dedicated to her home state of South Carolina, and spent an entire day in our Five Points neighborhood learning about our history, culture, and businesses.
Five Points Association executive director Amy Beth Franks played tour guide to Darley and her crew, as they visited some favorite Five Points spots - including The Gourmet Shop, Drip Coffee, and 2G's Clothing.
After Darley left Five Points, she spent a few more days in Columbia filming in other districts like Main Street and Rosewood, visiting the One Eared Cow, Sweet Cream Co., the Woodrow Wilson House, and Southern Belly BBQ. All of these stops were included in the Columbia episode, which aired on SC ETV on Saturday, February 13th and Friday, February 26th. The episode is now beginning to circulate in countries around the world, so the Five Points Association decided to celebrate by hosting a viewing party.
On Monday, February 22nd, The Cotton Gin transformed into a glimpse of the movie theater it used to be, with tables draped in black linens, candles, and beautiful decor provided by One Eared Cow. The CVB flew host Darley Newman in, and the community gathered to watch her learn about all things Five Points.
